Cubic Craniophor

GPM Model 201    Price:  $3,409

Product Details

The Cubic Craniophor consists of a precisely constructed framework with a lateral length of 28 cm. The cranial chamber, which can be removed and exchanged, can be fixed in the sheath by means of a fixing screw. The sheath is borne by an arm fixed at one corner.

The cranium must be held firmly in a pair of locating clamps, which are removed from the Craniophor. After the cranium is secured, the clamps are placed in the sheath such that the sheath screw comes to rest on one side and the hinge lever on the other side. After initial rough adjustment of the orientation of the cranium along the ear-eye plane (or any other desired plane), it is then important to use the Horizontal tracing needle as a levelling pin (No. 205) for fine adjustment.

Where a cranium has a defective occipital bone, the cranium is secured in the Cubic Craniophor using the Skull Bowl (No. 203, a chrome-plated bowl) instead of the clamps. After filling the plate with wax, putty, plasticine etc. the cranium is pressed into the substance. Adjustment is effected following the same principles as for the whole cranium.

The Skull Bowl (or cranial plate) has a diameter of 90 mm. It can also be used with the Tubular Craniophor (No. 207).
